We’re excited to share that an exceptional new offering is going live on Tuesday, August 26. During this exclusive release, we highlight the Russian River Valley, where the Kosta Browne journey began. Defined by fog-laced mornings, cool coastal air, and sunlit afternoons, this daily rhythm yields wines of quiet intensity and refined structure that are unmistakably expressive of the Russian River Valley.
Featuring wines from the 2023 vintage and from celebrated sites that include Keefer Ranch, Giusti Ranch, Bootlegger’s Hill, Treehouse Vineyard, and El Diablo, this release showcases both the region’s diversity and the extraordinary quality and character of its most renowned vineyards.
For a special preview of the release, we invite you to an exclusive virtual tasting tomorrow, August 22, at 2 PM PDT via Zoom. Winemaker Julien Howsepian and Estate Director Paige Dana will unveil the 2023 Russian River Valley wines and share the stories behind each vineyard. We encourage you to open a bottle of your 2021, 2022, or 2023 Russian River Valley wines and enjoy them alongside the tasting (#linkinbio).

Last week, our team checked in at Cerise Vineyard in Anderson Valley, where veraison is nearly complete. This marks the shift from growth to ripening, as grape berries take on their rich hues, sugars rise, acidity softens, and flavor compounds deepen.

“Once an apple orchard, Bootlegger’s Hill vineyard sits along the foggy western side of the Russian River Valley and is farmed by renowned grower Charlie Chenoweth. In 2022, Kosta Browne produced a Pinot Noir here with remarkable concentration yet a surprisingly approachable palate, perhaps the result of a gentle hand during fermentation (fewer punchdowns), which allowed for soft extraction. Even with extended maceration and 41% new French oak, the mouthfeel remains round. Showy aromas of wild berries mingle with savoury hints of fresh-cut herbs, a touch of anise, and a musky undertone that adds depth.” - Ana Carolina Quintela, Decanter.
